LETTER A matter of race

I applaud Mayor Lori Lightfoot's courageous statement on only giving one-on-one interviews to journalists of color. She obviously wants to see a public dialogue on this matter. White privilege is a topic we must look at seriously, it is the driving force of racism across the board.

Even within the LGBT Community, we see white privilege at play in cultural, religious, political and journalistic areas, and it is particularly prevalent in bars.

We elected the mayor to lead us and, with this action, that is what she is doing. If we really believe that Black lives matter. Let's support the mayor in her effort to start a very public dialogue on this matter.
