The Lesbian Community Cancer Project will receive a $99,000 grant by the Illinois Department of Public Health to train staff on the special health issues of lesbian, bisexual and transgender women in Illinois. LCCP will use the curriculum 'Removing the Barriers to Accessing Care for Lesbians and Women Who Partner with Women' developed by the Mautner Project, the national lesbian health organization, for IDPH staff and Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program lead agencies throughout Illinois.
Sen. Carol Ronen and Rep. Harry Osterman were instrumental in supporting LCCP's proposal to IDPH. A check presentation ceremony took place at Star Gaze.
