The Chicago Auto Show's annual First Look For Charity event took place Feb. 9 at McCormick Place.
Komen Chicago was one of 18 charity beneficiaries of the event that regularly generates 2.5 million dollars for local organizations. In addition to a sneak peek at the Chicago Auto Show, guests of Komen Chicago's private reception at the black-tie gala were treated to hors d'oeuvres, desserts, drinks and speeches by local breast-cancer survivors, including ABC-7 traffic anchor Roz Varon, who is facing metastatic breast cancer.
Proceeds from the private reception, totaling $66,000, enables Komen Chicago to invest in breakthrough research to prevent, treat and cure breast cancer, ensure quality care for all, empower people with knowledge about risk factors, early detection and resources to give more time to those living with breast cancer.
