Kenny Huang is a recent graduate of the Kellogg School of Management. Since moving to Chicago two years ago, he co-organized the Reaching Out MBA Conference, bringing together 600-plus LGBT students and professionals from around the nation. This three-day conference provided opportunities for students and professionals to network across MBA schools, careers, geographies and interests.
As if organizing the conference was not challenging enough, Kenny came out to his mom three days after the event. She was overwhelmingly supportive of him.
In addition to organizing the conference, Kenny served as co-president of the GLMA at Kellogg, where he continues the tradition of leading one of the most active LGBT MBA clubs in the world. Under his leadership, the GLMA increased the number of cities in which Kellogg recruits LGBT students, hosted the first-ever Multi-Cultural Marketing Panel and sponsored networking events among Chicago's LGBT pre-professional students.
Before coming to Chicago, Kenny spent three years in New York as an investment banker at Merrill Lynch. There, he led the Merrill Lynch AIDS Walk New York Team, raising four times the money and increasing participation three-fold compared to the prior year.
Outside of school, work and organizing events with David, he enjoys playing tennis, rollerblading, snowboarding and dancing. He is currently involved in Second City Tennis and will be competing in the upcoming Gay Games.
DID YOU KNOW? Kenny bakes a mean banana bread, though muffins have proved more challenging.
