Well, the truth is that this garage sale is gay because all of the money raised from the sale will support the Annual Meeting of the Federation of Gay Games, hosted by Chicago in November of 2003. No, say the organizers, you don't have to be gay to donate to the sale, or to buy. 'But it will make everyone at the sale a bit happier,' says lead organizer Rob Hunden, 'if you're just a bit festive.'

The Gigantic Gay Garage Sale will take place Friday through Sunday, June 20-22, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. all three days, at 2710 North Whipple #1. This is one block south of Diversey and three blocks west of California in Chicago's Logan Square neighborhood. Gently used clothes, exercise equipment, books, TVs, furniture, toys, appliances, lamps and much more have been donated to help make the sale a success. Materials can still be donated to the sale. The organizers are working to raise money to help underwrite the costs of the 2003 FGG Annual Meeting, scheduled for Nov. 10- 14, 2003. That week, delegates from as many as 25 countries will travel to America's heartland for plenary discussions, committee meetings and Board elections for the international sports and culture body. Topics for discussion will include a review of the November 2002 Gay Games® in Sydney, Australia.

Both the Garage Sale and the 2003 Annual Meeting are being hosted by Chicago Games, Inc., the organization formerly known as Chicago 2006, and Team Chicago, a member of the Federation of Gay Games formed to maximize participation by Chicago in the Gay Games® every four years.
