JUNE 17, 2013- Chicago, IL- Scottish writer and cult-icon Irvine Welsh ("Trainspotting," "The Acid House") is back in Chicago. He has teamed up with local author Don De Grazia (American Skin) to write "Creatives," and will be staging a live reading of their new screenplay at The Public House Theatre on Tuesday, July 2nd at 7:30pm. The reading is part of the ongoing stage-reading series, "Put 'Em Up," which occurs every Tuesday night at The Public House Theatre, at 7:30pm. Tickets cost $7, with a free drink of choice.
About "Creatives"
The ensemble thriller kicks off when best-selling crime fiction author, Sean O'Neil, returns from LA to his native Chicago to present a literary prize to his former mentor's creative writing class. This dark comedy is co-written by Irvine Welsh and Don De Grazia. The stage reading is produced by The Public House Theatre, and John Cates and Pat McKenna, as part of their ongoing weekly series, "Put 'Em Up."
About "Put 'Em Up"
Writer John Cates has teamed up with director Pat McKenna to produce "Put 'Em Up." The two have branched out to The Public House Theatre to launch their innovative collaboration. "Put 'Em Up" stages a reading every week, with a different writer (established luminaries and fresh talents), who personally chooses a cast. An industry insider joins the audience (Actors David Pasquesi and Tim Kazurinsky have been in attendance). After the reading, Pat McKenna invites feedback from the audience and the insiders.
