Dance in Chicago goes global this summer with performances representing France, China, Japan, Africa, Argentina and Spain.

The Paris Opéra Ballet takes the Harris Theater stage with three performances of the classic ballet Giselle created for them in 1841, plus three repertory shows. A live simulcast of the Wed., June 27, Giselle performance will be shown in Millennium Park. 205 E. The Nanning Art Theatre makes its U.S. debut at the Auditorium Theatre at Roosevelt University with Legend of the Sun, presented by the China Performing Arts Agency in association with the Chicago Human Rhythm Project. 50 E. Chicago's own Muntu Dance Theatre celebrates 40 years of presenting African and African-American dance with two shows this summer. Dance For Life, featuring some of Chicago's top dance companies, benefits the AIDS Foundation of Chicago and the Dancer's Fund. It will take place at the Auditorium Theatre at Roosevelt University, 50 E. Congress Pkwy., Saturday, Aug. 18, at 8 p.m. A pre-performance gala will be held at the Hilton Chicago, 720 S. The Chicago Dancing Festival expands again this year to six nights of free dance events ending with a Celebration of Dance at the Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park.
