Windy City Media Group launched its newest glossy magazine, Identity with the February edition. Identity is the continuation and the merger of two of WCMG's 'ethnic' monthly publications, BLACKlines and En La Vida, both eight years old. However, Identity, which will remain a monthly, will also feature different components that make up what the GLBTI ( Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex ) community has become and that's 'a very diverse melting pot.'
Monthly issues will feature not only sections entitled BLACKlines and En La Vida, with some columnist's articles featured in Spanish, but also a variety of other 'identities' in order to cover the wide range of community members often overlooked. Those sections will include:
— Views with editor Tracy Baim and nationally syndicated columnist Mubarak Dahir.
— Spirituality with a look into our constant battle and heated debates on religion in and out of our community.
— Art & Culture with national poet, author and performer C.C. Carter.
— Health with activist, poet and writer Sanford E. Gaylord.
— Gender which will take a look at a variety of issues from experts from the youth, transgender and intersex communities.
— F.Y.I. – a potpourri of topics from who's who, hot web sites, music and more.
— Calendar – two calendars will also be featured which will include Arts & Entertainment as well as a calendar for community groups, non-profits and social events happening within these communities.
Windy City Media Group is proud to continue their strong tradition of providing space for diverse voices and looks forward to a publication filled with new views, new writers and new direction to go along with the strong base on which BLACKlines and En La Vida were built.
