Illinois State University is home to one of the state's largest charity drag shows south of Chicago and north of St. Louis. Now, a new student organization at ISU is launching to expand student drag opportunities.
Drag Royalty, a new registered student organization (RSO) at Illinois State, will host the first-ever Holiday Drag Show at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, in the Brown Ballroom.
A large part of the proceeds of the show will go to Colorado Gives, which is helping with costs in the wake of the Club Q mass shooting.
"Club Q spends time with young people who are interested in learning the performance art of drag and this is exactly the purpose of the new Drag Royalty RSO," said Drag Royalty Advisor Dr. Byron Craig, an assistant professor in the School of Communication at Illinois State.
