Howard Brown Health Center ( HBHC ) has announced that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ( CDC ) has awarded a three-year, $950,000 grant to develop and test a culturally tailored HIV intervention for African-American MSM ( men who have sex with men ) .
Principal investigator Dr. David McKirnan, Ph.D.—of The University of Illinois at Chicago and HBHC—will team with HIV prevention experts at the South Side Help Center ( SSHC ) , a long-standing HIV prevention and direct-care agency on the south side of Chicago.
'We are pleased and excited about this collaboration with South Side Help Center,' Michael Cook, Howard Brown President and CEO, declared in a statement. 'This project opens the doors to future research and programmatic partnerships around HIV prevention, particularly in communities of color where they are most needed.'
