'Housewife' Kim Zolciak: On drama and family life

Bravo reality star Kim Zolciak from The Real Housewives of Atlanta is bringing her act to Spin Nightclub this season. She just had her baby with Atlanta Falcons player Kroy Biermann and proved the ring does mean a thing when she wed him recently.

Season four of the Housewives show debuted in November, with its highest ratings ever. With documenting her baby's birth this week and a trip to Chicago, it was time to talk to Kim Nunn on One.

Windy City Times: Hi, Kim. We are all excited about you coming back to Spin.

Kim Zolciak: It is my favorite club ever! I have done over 50 club appearances, and that is my favorite. I just had such a great time when I was there last. I don't do many club appearances now because I don't want to leave my home. This is my first one in a long time.

WCT: You will be singing this time as well?

KZ: Yes, of course "Tardy for the Party" and probably "Google Me," the new song.

WCT: I heard all of the Housewives are treated like royalty in Atlanta.

KZ: I don't go out so I have no idea how we are treated these days. I very seldom leave my house. [Laughs] I don't think it is different in Atlanta than anywhere else. I don't feel like we get special treatment.

WCT: That baby shower looked amazing on the show this season.

KZ: Thank you. It turned out fantastic.

WCT: There was some drama at the end of it.

KZ: Yes, there was some definite drama. I didn't really think there would be at a baby shower. There were kids running around, grandparents, family and all that. I didn't lose anything at the end of the day because Peter and Cynthia didn't show up until 15 minutes before it was over, so it wasn't that big of a deal. It was rude and uncalled for, you know what I am saying?

WCT: Yes. I know writers that work for Uptown Magazine, where Peter mentioned a lot of what the fight was about.

KZ: I don't even know Peter. I don't spend a lot of time with Cynthia and only know the stories that I hear. Everyone has an opinion but if you don't have something nice to say then don't say it at all kind of thing, especially when it is about your wife's cast members…

WCT: Where exactly are you from, Kim?

KZ: I was born in Pensacola, Fla., but grew up in Connecticut before moving to Atlanta and the show.

WCT: How is married life?

KZ: It is fantastic. I haven't had the time to enjoy because I have been working a lot. I am happy, and Kroy is such a great guy. He will be at Spin with me. I had an appearance scheduled prior to this but I had to cancel because of the wedding. I was able to book this when Kroy could go with me and we could have a little honeymoon. We can get into Chicago pretty early on Saturday to have a getaway.

WCT: Where did you meet him?

KZ: I met him on the show last year for real. I met him at the charity event that Shereé held called "Dancing with Atlanta Stars" a year and a half ago.

WCT: So your whole love story has been documented.

KZ: The whole thing is incredible. I always say I am so grateful. I didn't even want to go to that even that day and had a lot going on then. I went to support Shereé and never would have thought in a million years that I would have met my husband there.

WCT: Congrats on the wedding. I heard from Patti Stanger that no cell phones were allowed.

KZ: Thank you. No, no cell phones were allowed for anybody. You know with Twitter, Facebook and cell phones, I wanted to keep the event private and enjoy myself with my family and friends. Patti went and she is a great girl.

WCT: You filmed a docuseries of the wedding.

KZ: Yes, it is called "Don't Be Tardy for the Wedding," and it will be on Bravo. That is pretty much all I can tell you.

WCT: Your watch line looks nice.

KZ: It is called the Phosphor watch. It is fantastic. I am obsessed with watches. I love them. You really can't wear watches with many outfits because it ruins your look but this one is designed with diamonds. I did the white band because it is my signature watch. I will hopefully be designing more of these soon. I have so much going on.

WCT: Speaking of a different kind of watch, I heard there are some fake Twitter people that we need to watch out for.

KZ: This Twitter shit is amazing to me. Just the other day this @KIMZOLCIAK was tweeting at me. When you look at it, it's the same name but they capitalize so they are able to use the same name as me. My account is verified and the other is not, obviously. That is a distinct way to tell. On the day before my wedding, everything was disabled on my Facebook. I just got it back yesterday. I reported my other account was fake and there were like 40 other ones. People were asking me why I was Facebooking on my wedding day. Who the hell would do that? People have nothing else to do.

WCT: I wanted to say congrats on your baby.

KZ: Thank you. I can't believe it has already been six months now.

WCT: They grow so fast!

KZ: Incredibly fast. He is a carbon copy of his daddy. It is amazing how much he looks like Kroy.

WCT: Will there ever be any resolution between you and NeNe Leakes?

KZ: I'm over that. I am at a different place in my life. I wish her well and much success. I am very focused on my family and my husband. That is what I have going on, and I don't have time for the negativity anymore or the drama.

WCT: She told me that she led you to be on The Real Housewives.

KZ: She did. I knew her and Shereé. She is the one that introduced me to the producers or what have you. I will always be thankful for that. It has been an incredible journey over all of these years. But she has some anger issues that she needs to deal with…

WCT: How do you get along with the other cast members?

KZ: I adore Shereé, Phaedra is fantastic, Kandi is great. I don't know Cynthia all that well. I don't think she has a backbone at all but she is fairly nice. I haven't spent much time with her. But the other three, we talk all the time. We are friends off-camera.

WCT: How are your kids with the fame?

KZ: It is hard. Brielle started high school this year. The guys in high school are obsessed with the NFL so she has that angle from Kroy now. Being on TV can be very hard. She has had some issues with bullying that I have had to deal with at the school, unfortunately. They are both strong and know it is my job. If my girls ever asked to not be on television again, they won't be. If I am filming that day and they are not feeling good they don't film. My youngest, Arianna, is 10 years old—so oblivious to it, and so is the school. It is a country school and, hopefully, the little kids are not watching it.

WCT: You were very separate on this season being pregnant.

KZ: I was.

WCT: I wanted to see you at Kandi's birthday party. It looked crazy.

KZ: I'm glad I missed that. I had the baby a couple of days later. I was very separate but that was kind of nice. There have been a lot of changes this season, even the last six months with moving into a home, and getting married. Most people do that over a span of years. I wanted the date of the marriage to be 11/11/11. We got married on the day I wanted and it meant a lot.

WCT: People can check out your website at www.kimzolciak.com .

KZ: Yes, and go to www.bravotv.com to check out my blog. People don't realize that we write those blogs because things can get misconstrued or we tell them behind the scenes about the show. I just sent one in five minutes ago. I write every week on it.

Zolciak will at Spin, 800 W. Belmont Ave., on Saturday, Dec. 17, promptly at 11 p.m. so don't be "Tardy for the Party." For tickets visit www.spin-nightclub.com . For more on Zolciak, just Google her.
