What are you thankful for? I'm thankful that I have been given such an amazing opportunity to spread absurdist humor and homo filth throughout the community. But, with great power comes great responsibility. As you may glean from this week's goings-on, I'm living up to the task.
Let's begin with the cover this week. How fortuitous that as Brian and I arrived at the backyard of my apartment building, the super had just raked all the leaves into neat little piles. I could see him now: busily gathering the fallen foliage knowing that they would provide the perfect backdrop for a naked ( ? ) gay photo shoot. I'll have to make sure to get him a copy. And no worries--we raked those leaves right back up.
Had one or two run-ins with young Brian this week. He makes a right nice flesh shot glass. There he is up there on the bar at Clark's. Whereas he may appear to be frightened or in pain, I assure you that look on his face is one of pure pleasure.
Wednesday night saw the birth of two new nightspots you're sure to be hearing much more about. The invite-only press opening of Ohm ( in the old Red Dog space ) was phenomenal. The champagne was flowing and the crowd was predictably hot. I tried not to make a hog out of myself on the hors d'oeuvres... at first. That shit was just too good. By the end I couldn't hold a conversation without bits of half-chewed shrimp flying every which way. Well, not really, but it may as well have been.
From there it was only a quick 35 mile jaunt to downtown Elgin to see the new Medusa and their Wednesday night gaydom Mile High Club. City-dweller that I am, I expected to drive out there and find a shack painted pink with Tom of Finland posters everywhere. I have never been more mistaken. The decor was a treat for the eye, as were the hot uniformed staff. They take their airplane motif pretty seriously out there. Brava!
So sit back, grow positively large with food and enjoy this feast I like to call Nightspots. And remember to floss.
