The medical clinic at Test Positive Aware Network (TPAN) has expanded services to meet the growing need for affordable HIV treatment. The clinic, offered through a partnership with Access Community Health Network, will now offer HIV primary care, as well as a full range of STD and HIV screenings. All services are provided at no charge to individuals without medical insurance. Most forms of insurance can also be accepted.
'As the needs of people living with HIV change, we at TPAN work very hard to meet those needs. Having a specialty clinic available to individuals without insurance is a major step in meeting the changing needs of our clients and members,' said TPAN Executive Director Charles Clifton. 'This collaboration with Access allows us to truly offer the full range of services needed and expected by our clients.'
The clinic will now be staffed with HIV specialists, including a nurse practitioner and case manager throughout the week. Dr. Rajagopal, the HIV medical specialist at Access, will see patients at TPAN on Tuesday mornings. The clinic is now scheduling patient appointments at the following times: Mondays: 10-5:30 Tuesdays: 9-5:30 Thursdays: 12-6.
TPAN clients can now receive HIV care in the form of case management, treatment education, support services, access to an HIV resource center, and now medical services all under one roof. TPAN provides peer-led HIV treatment education, programming, outreach, support services, information dissemination, and advocacy. TPAN publishes and distributes two HIV/AIDS journals, Positively Aware and Positively Aware en Español, as well as the bilingual Chicago Area HIV Services Directory, and the Chicago Area Directory of HIV Professionals.
