Contrary to popular belief, you don't have to make huge changes in your life to better it. In fact, there are many slight alterations that can affect you positively:
Add a little color to your plate: A recent study found that men whose diets were highest in fruits and vegetables had a 70 percent lower risk of cancers related to the digestive tract.
Don't skip breakfast: A survey of more than 2,000 people who lost an average of 67 pounds and kept the weight off found that 78 percent ate breakfast every single day.
Blueberries for the erection: Yes, you read that correctly. The berries contain compounds that improve circulation. Eat your berries fresh or in a smoothie at least three times a week.
Crunch your back pain away: You can prevent most lower-back problems by building your abdominal muscles. Try to do a dozen crunches each day.
Try decaf: The caffeine in two cups of coffee adds 16 beats per minute to your heart rate.
Cherries help your insomnia: Cherries and cherry juice are sources of melatonin, a popular sleep aid.
Lend a helping hand: Men who do volunteer work at least once a week have half the death rate of those who do not.
Get to the 'kur' of it: If you awaken very early, dampen a towel with cool water and lightly wipe your arms, legs, and torso; then, go back to bed. The body is warm when it comes out of REM sleep. Back in bed, the body heats up even more—resulting in a deep, restful sleep. (This technique, called kur, is popular in European spas.)
