U.S. District Judge Thomas M. Durkin rescheduled former U.S. House of Representatives Dennis Hastert's sentencing for April 8, The Chicago Sun-Times reported.
Hastert's lawyer said his client "nearly died" in early November as he began to suffer a series of ailments—including a stroke and a severe blood infection—that hospitalized him for weeks.
The sentencing was previously slated for Feb. 29.
Last October, Hastert pled guilty in a hush-money case that was related to an alleged cover-up of sexual misconduct with a male student relating to his time as a teacher in Yorkville, Illinois.
Also, federal prosecutors, for the first time, have acknowledged another victim in the hush-money case, according to another Sun-Times item. Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven Block said, "There are victims in this case. They deserve closure." The identities of the victims are unclear.
