CHICAGO ( October 5, 2018 ): The Andersonville neighborhood will celebrate Halloween the weekend of Saturday, October 27 and Sunday, October 28 throughout the business district. Over 100 businesses participate each year in the Clark Street Trick-or-Treat on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. and another 20 businesses will participate in the Andersonville Sweetish Stroll, formerly the Dessert Crawl, produced by the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce ( ACC ) on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The hallmark of the Saturday festivities, the Trick-or-Treat on Clark Street and Costume Contest, will include over 100 participating businesses. Families are encouraged to come in costume and visit any business with an Orange Pumpkin sign on their storefront door for candy. Participants for the Costume Contest can check in at AlleyCat Comics ( 5304 N. Clark ) between 11:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to register. The winner will be announced at 3:30 p.m. Gus Giordano Dance School's Zombie Dancers will also perform "Thriller" and "Monster Mash" at the corner of Clark and Farragut at 12:40 p.m. during the Trick-or-Treat time frame.

Additional Saturday events include the 48th Ward and Edgewater Triangle Neighborhood Association Halloween Parade, gathering at Peirce Elementary School ( 1423 W. Bryn Mawr ) at 10:00 a.m. with the parade kicking off at 11:00 a.m. and traveling north on Glenwood Avenue to Gethsemane Garden Center ( 5739 N. Clark ). Gethsemane will host their annual Children's Fall Fest on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Last year, the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce ( ACC ) planned to retire the former Dessert Crawl, but due to popular demand for this "adult trick-or-treat" experience, will re-launch the event as the Sweetish Stroll on Sunday, October 28. The event features two different routes, the August Gloop route and the Veruca Salt route, with ten sweet-stops on each. Tickets are available online now for $20 per route.

"After we announced that the 2017 event was the final year for Dessert Crawl, we started hearing from a lot of our local residents, especially during check-in for Taste of Andersonville this past August, that it was their favorite event of the year," said ACC Community and Events Manager Laura Austin. "We are excited to bring the crawl back as the Sweetish Stroll this year and to feature new businesses like Lost Larson, Octavio Cantina & Kitchen, the Swedish American Museum's new café offerings, and FRIO Gelato, which is set to open the week of October 15, in addition to returning favorites such as m.Henry and My Private Chef."
