'We have our favorites—warm and traditional woods such as cherry and mohagany, light contemporary woods like maple, sycamore and beech, and finishes which highlight the grain. But we also have experience with, and appreciation for, other quality materials such as glass, laminates (plastic, metal, and acrylic), stone, painted finishes, metals, and solid surfacing. And we like to see the way certain finishes, such as hi-gloss lacquer, create unusual or exotic results.'
Hylan is based in the Near South Loop, and their clients are from around the Midwest. Being based near some of Chicago's most treasured historic homes, Hylan has helped clients recreate designs of the past, making them functional for today's needs.

Want to see some of their work? The mohagany desk in the entryway of Truefitt & Hill, on the 6th floor of the 900 N. Michigan Shops is one of their creations, along with the paneling and retail shelving. The work is based on and matched to 120-year-old cabinetry from a British apothecary.
