A new musical named Gotta Dance premiered Dec. 28 at Chicago's Bank of America Theatre. This production is running in the Windy City before heading to Broadway.
Gotta Dance is based on the true story of 10 people older than 60 who audition to dance at halftime for a professional basketball team. The show stars Tony Award nominee Andre De Shields and five-time Emmy Award nominee Georgia Engel, among others.
For opening night, producers Dori Berinstein and Bill Damaschke, along with co-choreographer Nick Kenkel, braved the icy weather. Several of the original team from the documentary were proudly all smiles on the red carpet that night as well. Actress Ta'Rhonda Jones from the Fox hit show Empire and Criminal Minds actor Joe Mantegna attended as well.
Tickets for the run of Gotta Dancenow through Jan. 17are currently available at www.BroadwayInChicago.com or 800-775-2000.
