ABC's General Hospitalalready the winningest sudser in daytime historywas named Outstanding Daytime Drama on June 24 while The Kelly Clarkson Show took home the prize for Outstanding Talk Show at the 49th annual Daytime Emmy Awards.
Jeopardy! won Best Game Show with new hosts Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings, while Mishael Morgan made history by becoming the first Black woman to win Outstanding Lead Actress in a Daytime Drama for her work as attorney Amanda Sinclair on The Young and the Restless.
On the LGBTQ+ front, Robin Roberts won for Outstanding Informative Talk Show for Turning the Tables with Robin Roberts, besting competitors such as Red Table Talk (which won last year).
Entertainment Tonight's Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner co-hosted the event, which began with a reference to the U.S. Supreme Court's overturning of Roe v. Wade, which happened earlier that day. After Frazier referenced how well Turner looked in her blue gown, she replied, "I chose this dress. It was my choice"which was met with huge applause.
Susan Lucci received a standing ovation after she took the stage to remember her late husband/manager Helmet Huber and introduce the In Memoriam segment.
The syndicated Kelly Clarkson won the most Daytime Emmys overall this year with seven, followed by General Hospital's five.
The ceremony aired live on CBS and streamed on Paramount+. |
