CHICAGO—-It's official! GayCo Productions is on the market! The boundary-pushing comedy organization can now legally buy cigarettes, vote, have sex and, thanks to marriage equality in Illinois, get married to a 54-year-old muscle daddy and divorce him and take all his Design Within Reach furniture.
GayCo Productions turns 18 years old this year, and, to celebrate a whole new world of possibilities, is debuting BEARLY LEGAL, a brand new sketch comedy show opening in the heart of Boystown.
Bearly Legal opens Saturday Nov. 15 at 10pm at The Playground Theater ( 3209 N. Halsted ) and runs Saturdays through Dec. 20. Tickets are $18 ( students pay $13 ).
With Bearly Legal, GayCo, Chicago's longest-lasting LGBTQ sketch comedy organization, jumps into untouched waters by exploring the wonders of lesbian puberty, the denizens of the new tawdry Manhole in Boystown ( everything old is new again! ), ultra-progressive day cares and embraces the gay community's ever-present Peter Pan syndrome.
Bearly Legal is written by and stars Robin Trevino, Kathy Betts, Christopher Thies Lotito, Erin Island and Adam Bindert. Second City Training Center's Aaron Sjoholm directs.
GayCo Productions was formed out of the famous Second City in 1996 and has performed across the continent and in Europe. Bearly Legal marks its 28th original revue.
