Gay-owned Galena inn receives honor from Tripadvisor

Hawk Valley Retreat & Cottages—a gay-owned bed and breakfast in Galena, Illinois—announced it has been recognized by Tripadvisor as a 2022 Travelers' Choice Best of the Best award winner for Bed and Breakfasts, ranking 13th out of the top 25 in the country.
"We are extremely honored to be recognized, especially since it is based on ratings from our amazing guests," said co-owner John Walch in a statement. Co-owner Jim Shopofski added, "Our goal has always been to offer our guests a place to relax, restore, and explore. Since we took over the property in February of 2020, we have put so much effort into this end, and we are always humbled that our hard work is appreciated."
The site includes 10 secluded acres of meadows and gardens, and includes cottages; a place for intimate weddings, social gatherings and corporate events; and extras such as massages.
