Asians and Friends Chicago had its first night of mahjong for LGBT individuals on June 16—and a promising crowd of 16 people showed up.

Future nights will take place on the third Saturday of each month ( the next one being Aug. 18 ) at Marc Rubin's Chicago Room Gallery, 3318 N. Halsted. An introductory session will start at 7:30 p.m., and play will take place 8-10 p.m.

Mahjong is usually played by four people who use 144 tiles. The goal is to collect winning sets of these tiles.

It's BYOB with a $7 corking fee; there's also complimentary coffee and tea. RSVP at www.afchicago.org or 312-409-1573.
