Nightspots: Who were your bearded heroes growing up?
Jeffrey: I'm probably going to date myself but it would have to be Grizzly Adams and a few of the guys from Bonanza. The clean shaven look was portrayed in most mainstream shows and in the media.
NS: How did this website/Facebook page start? Was it just your personal affection for bearded dudes?
J: Honestly, I had wanted to start a page for fun and the idea just came to me. No real inspiration really, but it's turned into a happy accident.
NS: Have you been surprised by the reaction you've seen to this page?
J: Completely surprised. People are very passionate about their beards!
NS: Do you do any public events in conjunction with the page? Any plans to bring your bearded face to Chicago?
J: I do not, but I'm always ready and willing to lend my support to those who choose to organize functions. Chicago has always been on my list of places to see. I've driven through on my travels but never had opportunity to stop and really explore the city.
NS: For you, what makes the ideal beard?
J: Soft and well-tended. Those boar's hair brushes work wonders. It doesn't really matter to me if it's cropped close or big n' bushy. I have an equal appreciation for both.
NS: Any clean-shaven celebrities you're dying to see grow a beard?
J: Hmm, good question. Now that the scruffy look seems to be the trend, they've all done it to some degree. Although, I bet Chace Crawford would be extra hot if he grew a lumberjack beard!
