Lady Gaga's Born This Way Foundation drove into town for a few hours March 27 on the "Born Brave Bus."
There were only four stops on the tour, with Chicago's Navy Pier being one of them. What had originally been planned as an all-day affair with the Gaga concert as the finale had a change in plans as the Born This Way Ball had to be cancelled because of an injury the singer suffered.
This did not deter the message and vision that Gaga intended from coming to life. The young fans turned up in droves to register then have a completely interactive experience.
The foundation was able to make videos about equality and anti-bullying under a pop-up building. Prevention resources and counseling were on site to help on an individual basis for those suffering or in need.
Fan art decorated the walls, and there were many photo ops for attendees while they jammed to a DJ. It was "Gagapalooza," with bands such as The Dirty Pearls and friends of the Haus of Gaga present.
Picnic tables and a buffet allowed people to have lunch and really take their time with the experience. There was a feeling of tolerance and acceptance at Navy Pier as many fans dressed the part in homage to Gaga on her birthday eve.
