The Queer Film Society, in association with The Chicago Public Library present QUEER KINGS & QUEENS, a free series celebrating Victorian era LGBT movies in honor of Gay Pride month.
The series comprises four free screenings taking place on the first four Mondays in June at the Bezazian branch ( 1226 W. Ainslie ) of the Chicago Public Library at 6pm ( doors at 5:30pm ). All the screenings will feature discussion following the film. The lineup for Queer King & Queens presents movies focused on actual gay and lesbian royalty— real and fictional — Sweden's Queen Christina and England's King Edward II. This series contains films with mature subject matter. Viewer discretion is advised.

Queen Christina ( 1933 ): Bisexual screen legend Greta Garbo is at the height of her ironic beauty in this MGM classic, as the queen of Sweden, the ruler who wants to remain "a bachelor girl" but who finds herself drawn into an illicit romance.

The Girl King ( 2015 ) A widely acclaimed adaptation of the Queen Christina story — this time with the lesbian romance intact. This is the movie Garbo wanted to make.
