Former Chicago Ald. Danny Solis is facing federal bribery chargesthree years after it was revealed he wore a wire to help the feds in their cases against Ald. Ed Burke and former House Speaker Michael Madigan, CBS Chicago reported.
According to the one-page filing against Solis on April 8, federal prosecutors said that between July and September of 2015, Solis illegally sought campaign contributions from a real-estate developer seeking zoning amendments.
In late 2018, Solis announced he would not be running for re-election, just months before published reports revealed he'd been wearing a wire for the FBI in a probe that resulted in corruption charges against Burke. He resigned from his post as City Council Zoning Committee chair in January 2019, after the Chicago Sun-Times first revealed his cooperation with federal investigators.
