About Face Youth Theatre is holding an art contest for all youth 14-20 years old.
Every summer, the participants of About Face Youth Theatre (AFYT) create a professional production that has been consistently hailed by rave reviews. In the past, these productions have been based on the personal stories of the youth (aged 14-20) who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or questioning, and their allies.
This year as part of the project an art contest will be held. The chosen artwork will be included on all the theater's promotional and publicity materials for the production this summer. The winner of the art contest will receive a certificate to attend the Summer Studio Institute at the American Academy of Art in downtown Chicago, free of charge.
This is a perfect opportunity for budding visual artists to gain instruction and experience in creating art, as well as citywide exposure for their art.
