Lea Delaria, Artemis at 'Women in Music' Nov. 16

Lakeside Pride Music Ensembles presents "Women in Music"—a celebration featuring female composers, conductors and performers—at Preston Bradley Center, 941 W. Lawrence Ave., on Sunday, Nov. 16, at 3 p.m.

This concert, hosted by Orange Is the New Black star Lea DeLaria, will feature a special guest appearance by Chicago's lesbian feminist chorus Artemis Singers. The Lakeside Pride Symphonic Band, under the direction of Kyle Rhoades, will perform the masterworks planned for this evening.

DeLaria broke new ground more than two decades ago as the first "openly gay" comic to appear on national television, with appearances on The Arsenio Hall Show and as host of Comedy Central's all-gay special, Out There.

Tickets for the concert are $25, and VIP passes that include a meeting with DeLaria (1:30-2:45 p.m.) are $75. Visit www.LakesidePride.org .

Gershwin, Ives songs part of Unity's series

Various performers will entertain audiences in three separate performances this fall and holiday season at Unity Temple, 875 Lake St., Oak Park, for the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust's new Concerts in Context series.

The first performance on Thursday, Nov. 6, will feature the Chicago Philharmonic Chamber Players, showcasing the music of American composers Charles Ives, George Gershwin, Kurt Weill and Aaron Copeland.

The Chicago Philharmonic Chamber Players return to Unity Thursday, Dec. 4, for "Music and Modernism: Early 20th Century Vienna," featuring the music of Austrian composers Alexander Zemlinsky and Arnold Schoenberg. The 2014 series will wrap Thursday, Dec. 18, with a jazz performance of holiday favorites by Grammy-nominated vocalist Margaret Carlson and her trio.

Eileen Myles at Poetry Foundation Nov. 2

The Poetry Foundation and the Chicago Humanities Festival will feature a talk by lesbian New York poet Eileen Myles at the foundation, 61 W. Superior St., on Sunday, Nov. 2, at 2 p.m.

In this talk ( "Poetry off the Shelf: Eileen Myles" ), she discusses Afterglow, her new fantasy and dog memoir about her longtime companion, Rosie.

'Over the Rainbow'at Sidetrack Nov. 12

The 4th Annual Over the Rainbow, a benefit to raise money and awareness for those who struggle with cancer in the LGBT community, will be held Nov. 12 at Sidetrack, 3349 N. Halsted, 7-10 p.m.

Performers appearing in Over the Rainbow include Matt Alber, Amy Armstrong, Molly Callinan, Circuit Mom, Get On The Floor Dance Company, Sharriese Hamilton, Kelly Lauren, Mimi Marks and Chadwick Stadt.

The night will also include a silent auction. The proceeds will benefit Gilda's Club Chicago, a support community for people living with cancer along with their families and friends. Since its beginning in 2011, Over The Rainbow has raised more than $46,000 for charities such as the American Cancer Society, Howard Brown Health Center, Fred Says, The Night Ministry and Gilda's Club Chicago. Over The Rainbow was created in memory of Gio Cosentino after he lost his battle to cancer in August of 2011. Although the subject matter is very serious, "OTR" is a very upbeat celebration of his life.

Tickets may be purchased in advance online for $20 or $25 at the door. Admission will include one drink ticket and a chance to win two round-trip tickets from Southwest Airlines.

'Mockingjay' soundtrack features Lorde, Grace Jones

The the soundtrack to The Hunger Games: Mockingjay-Part 1 ( Republic Records ) will be available in stores and on all online partners beginning Nov. 17. It is all currently available for digital pre-order.

The full track listing and cover artwork for the soundtrack curated by 17-year-old Lorde has also been revealed. The soundtrack will feature collaborations from artists including Stromae featuring Pusha T, Q-Tip, Haim, CHVRCHES, Tove Lo, Charli XCX featuring Simon Le Bon, Raury, Grace Jones, Chemical Brothers featuring Miguel, a special Kanye West rework of Lorde's single "Yellow Flicker Beat," and an additional surprise track that will be revealed soon.

PETA ad exhibit thru Nov. 1

The Mars Gallery, 1139 W. Fulton Market St., will offer an eyeful of Hollywood celebrities in the buff—including Olivia Munn, Pamela Anderson, Taraji P. Henson, Kim Basinger, Christina Applegate and Alicia Silverstone—in the exhibit "Naked Ambition: 25 Years of PETA's Sexy Celebrity Ads."

PETA's "Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur" campaign began with The Go-Go's in 1989, and since then, it has featured such celebrities as Christy Turlington, Wendy Williams and Melissa Etheridge. Others who have posed for various ads include Dave Navarro, soccer superstar Tim Howard, TLC's Chilli and Maggie Q.

Film on homeless teens to be screened Nov. 13

A free screening of The Homestretch—a film about three homeless Chicago teens, one of them LGBT—will take place Thursday, Nov. 13, at Berry United Methodist Church, 4754 N. Leavitt St., at 7 p.m.

A free-will offering to benefit The Night Ministries will follow the screening, the Gay Liberation Network and Berry United Methodist Church are co-sponsoring.

The following night, one of the teens, Kasey White, will be a guest on the Gay Liberation Network (GLN) on Chicago Access Network TV, at 6:30 p.m. on Cable Channel 21 in Chicago, interviewed by GLN's Roger Fraser.

I'm from Driftwood event Nov. 13

Organizers of the LGBTQ story archive I'm from Driftwood will hold a fall fundraiser Thursday, Nov. 13, 6-8 p.m., at Sidetrack, 3349 N. Halsted St.

I'm From Driftwood, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, has collected roughly 900 written and video stories from LGBTQ folks internationally. The organization has self-published a book, released podcasts, been adapted to the stage, completed a 50-state story collection tour and held Live Storytelling Events.
