The Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network will host a forum with historian activist Marie Kuda Tuesday, Sept. 26 at Sulzer Library, 4455 N. Lincoln, 7 p.m. Kuda will present "Incorporating Gay History in Your Curriculum."
Gerber/Hart Library will hold its annual book sale Sept. 23-24. The book sale will include general interest books ( fiction and non-fiction ) , children's books, academic works as well as books about G/L/B/T culture.
This year's book sale also will feature a bake sale and a silent auction for the first time. The silent auction will feature about a half-dozen items, ranging from framed artwork to restaurant gift certificates, and will be conducted on-site as well as via telephone and e-mail. That's A Family!, by the filmmakers who produced the award-winning It's Elementary, will have its Chicago premiere Thursday, Oct. 5 at the Piper's Alley Theatre, 1601 N. Wells. Dozens of city and suburban organizations have signed on as sponsors of the screening, which will benefit the national educational distribution campaign for the film coordinated by Women's Educational Media. National authority on HIV and AIDS policy A. Cornelius Baker will deliver the Bon Foster Memorial Civil Rights Lecture next month, the Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund said. U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez is the honorary chair for this annual event, which draws hundreds of attorneys and activists for the lesbian and gay community and those living with HIV/AIDS.
