Estrojam, an annual not-for- profit, community-based event that supports pro-women, non-profit organizations that support non-violent social change, will take place Sept. 27-30 in various venues around the city.
The events will take place as follows:
— On Wed., Sept. 27, the Cinejam Film Festival will take place at Landmark Century Cinema, 2828 N. Clark, at 7 p.m. Following that will be a reception across the street at La Creperie, 2845 N. Clark.
— Thurs., Sept. 28, will see Team Dresch, Tuna Helpers, Andrea Gibson and Gina Young performing at the Abbey Pub, 3420 W. Grace.
— On Fri., Sept. 29, the BGirl Battle Finals with Fannypack, Leslie and the Ly's, Lesbians on Ecstasy, Stinkmitt and Windy City Rollers will be held at the Abbey Pub.
— Lastly, on Sat., Sept. 30, there will be workshops such as 'Women, Media & the Internet' at the Wicker Park Field House, 1425 N. Damen, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. An early show at Uncommon Ground, 1214 W. Grace, will feature such acts as Nicole Torres and Sierra Dawn; it starts at 6 p.m. Last, but not least, is the late show at The Metro, 3730 N. Clark, that starts at 8 p.m. Among the acts are Nina Hagen ancd Chi-Town Sirens.
