PRIDEChicago, organizers of the Annual Pride Parade, who also compile and publicize the annual June Pride Month Calendar of Events, have announced plans for the 2004 Pride Celebration.
Every year, the Pride Month Calendar contains over 80 different social, cultural, athletic and political events organized by various community organizations and individuals. PRIDEChicago publicizes these events on their Web site; in their PrideGuide; in community mailings and local publications.
The 35th Annual Pride Parade is Sunday, June 27 at Noon.
Under an updated City of Chicago parade ordinance that first went into effect two years ago, there are now new rules for all parades in the city. Richard Pfeiffer, Parade coordinator, is reminding participants to register early to secure a spot. Cut-off date for parade registration is June 16—or until all 250 positions are filled—whichever comes first.
Last Fall, Esera Tuaolo, former professional football player, signed on to be a Special Guest (Grand Marshall) for this year's Annual Pride Parade. He came out in October 2003 as part of HBO's Real Sports program. He played on five NFL teams including the Green Bay Packers and attended the 1998 Super Bowl XXXIII as an Atlanta Falcon. He retired to pursue a career in singing and acting.
