The FX drama Nip/Tuck has a superstar scheduled to guest-star next season: Madonna. According to Deep Inside Hollywood, the singer-actress will appear opposite her longtime friend Rosie O'Donnell, who made quite an impression last season as Dawn Budge, a character who had plastic surgery after winning the lottery. Among the celebrities who have acted on Nip/Tuck are Kathleen Turner, Richard Chamberlain and Alanis Morissette.
Sylvester Stallone may be fined after taking a muscle-promoting hormone with him into Australia, where the substance is prohibited, CNN.com reported. On Feb. 16, Stallone, 60, was stopped at an airport, where items were confiscated. The Rocky actor could have to pay almost $9,000 in fines.
The Ellen DeGeneres Show received 12 Daytime Emmy nominations, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Her show, Dr. Phil, Rachael Ray, The View and The Tyra Banks Show received nods for best talk show. The outstanding drama nods went to Guiding Light ( which got 17 nominations, more than any other show ) ; One Life to Live; The Young and the Restless; and The Bold and the Beautiful. Winners will be announced June 15, and broadcast live on CBS.
The gay TV channel Logo is sponsoring 'True Colors,' a 15-city tour featuring, among others, Deborah Harry, Erasure and Cyndi Lauper, according to 365Gay.com ( Margaret Cho will host, and the Indigo Girls and Rosie O'Donnell will appear at certain cities. ) The tour—which will benefit the Human Rights Campaign—will start June 8 in Las Vegas and end June 30 in Los Angeles. Mario Vasquez—the former American Idol finalist who shocked many a few years ago when he suddenly dropped out of the competition—is being sued for allegedly sexually harassing a male accountant in 2005, according to TMZ.com . According to the Los Angeles County Superior Court lawsuit, Magdaleno Olmos—an accountant for American Idol—claims that Vasquez, among other things, followed him into a bathroom, masturbated in front of him, touched him and asked him if he 'wanted oral sex.'
Speaking of American Idol, former finalist and Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson is dealing with some flux right now. According to The New York Post, Hudson tried to get out of performing at the recent Soul Train Awards show. However, Soul Train producer Don Cornelius allegedly called Clive Davis, who supposedly told Hudson, 'Get your ass out to L.A.' Hudson received the Sammy Davis Jr. Award for Entertainer of the Year; Jamie Foxx, Mary J. Blige and Beyonce were among the others honored.
In other Hudson-related news, she's now unofficially a burger queen. Life Style Extra reported that Burger King has given her an all-you-can-eat pass for life. The offer happened after American Idol judge Simon Cowell criticized Hudson for not thanking the show during her Oscar speech. Her response was, 'If I'd been any better at my job when I was at Burger King in my middle teens, I wouldn't be here either, so should I thank them, too?'
Fred Dalton Thompson, best known as district attorney Arthur Branch on TV's Law and Order, is considering a presidential run, according to the Associated Press. Thompson, who was in the U.S. Senate from 1994 to 2003 as a Republican from Tennessee, supports the troop surge in Iraq and is against abortion and same-sex marriage.
Steel Magnolias co-stars Shirley MacLaine and Olympia Dukakis may work together in the dark comedy Poor Things, Advocate.com reported. The fact-based story centers around two female con artists who befriend and murder homeless men to collect their life-insurance policies. Ash Baron Cohen, a cousin of Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen, will direct.
The sons of Awatef Aboudihaj, a woman killed in a car accident allegedly caused by singer/actress Brandy, are suing the entertainers and others involved in the accident for negligence and wrongful death, according to ETOnline.com . In January, Aboudihaj's parents filed a lawsuit against the singer for $50 million.
In Cross River, N.Y., three female high school students were suspended for using the word 'vagina' in The Vagina Monologues—but the school rescinded their punishment, according to the Associated Press. School officials warned 16-year-old juniors Hannah Levinson ( whose one day of in-school suspension was revoked ) , Megan Reback and Elan Stahl not to use the word 'vagina;' however, they did and administrators punished them.
U2 lead singer Bono will now work in another capacity: editor. According to The Post Chronicle, Bono will be guest editor of the July issue of Vanity Fair magazine. The singer, who has made numerous appearances in Africa regarding poverty and AIDS, will include items about the continent in the issue.
