Auditorium Theatre to mark 125th with gala
Exactly 125 years from when the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University opened its doors in 1889, the national historic landmark, led by Board Chairman Melvin L. Katten and Executive Director Brett Batterson, will mark its 125th anniversary with a special performance, "Living the History: 125 Years of the Auditorium Theatre" on Tuesday, Dec. 9, at 6 p.m.
The celebratory evening, which begins with a star-studded program at the venue, 50 E. Congress Pkwy., will include a tribute to the diverse entertainment that has been, and continues to be presented at Auditorium, including symphonic music, opera, Broadway musicals, rock music and dance.
Chicago actor John Mahoney ( Frasier ) will host the event, which will feature performances from Broadway figure Patti LuPone and the Apollo Chorus of Chicago, which performed at the 1889 opening.

'Love's in Need of Love' Nov. 21
The jazz/soul/R&B concert fundraiser "Love's in Need of Love" will take place Friday, Nov. 21, at 8:30 p.m at the Glessner House Museum, 1800 S. Prairie Ave.
Pastor J will emcee. Jesse Dean Stanford, Rachael Weasley, Clyde Easter and Jocelyn Buchanan will be among those performing.
A portion of the event's proceeds will go to The Lighthouse Church's work with homeless youth. The church touts itself as being multiethnic and LGBT-inclusive.

'Barlesque' thru Nov. 23
Through Nov. 23, contestants representing 18 local bars and businesses are competing for the title of "Chicago's Sexiest" to raise money for TPAN in its online strip-a-thon, "Barlesque 7: Let's Get Physical."
As people visit the Barlesque website ( www.barleqsue.org ) and donate money, the contestants' photos will reflect their various stages of undressthe more donors give, the less that the contestants wear.
The Barlesque 7 kickoff party will be held Wed., Nov. 5, 7-10 p.m. at Charlie's Chicago, 3726 N. Broadway. All money raised through Barlesque goes directly towards TPAN's HIV/AIDS services. Last year, this event raised more than $58,000.
