International Gay & Lesbian Human Rights Commission's partner organization in Nepal, the Blue Diamond Society ( BDS ) needs emergency funds now! Honored time and again for its excellent, effective work on behalf of LGBTI people in Nepal, Blue Diamond has made incredible strides over the years and now is our chance to assist in its time of dire need. BDS will serve as the coordinator for aid to LGBTI people in Nepal. Donations are needed to ensure it can effectively help.
The earthquake already took the lives of two members of BDS, our allies, Kumari Bhujel and Jyoti Prakash and many members of the LGBTI community are still missing; sadly BDS will need funds for proper burials.
Walls at the Blue Diamond Society headquarters in Kathmandu are cracked and need to be restored so the building is safe and structurally sound.
Many LGBTI people have lost everything; funds are needed for medicine, food, fuel, emergency shelter and construction materials for the rebuilding process.
LGBTI members of Nepal face significant hurdles to aidwhether they are transgender individuals seeking government assistance or LGBTI families seeking shelterBDS will be at the forefront of ensuring access to aid.
IGLHRC will pass all donations made here directly to the Blue Diamond Society.
