With more than 1.5 million Latinos enrolled in U.S. colleges and universities the iCaramba College Tour is back and heading to a number of cities nationwide, including right here in the Midwest.

In Chicago there will be live entertainment and activities including concerts, collegiate step and stroll shows, contests and many campus stops.

'When we created this tour, we wanted to help promote Latinos to a higher institution. We want to bring value and entertainment to Latino students by providing them with information that will guide them,' said Anthony Aldano, director of college marketing for Latcom, inc.

The tour visits eight cities and 40 high-density Latino campuses every academic school year, including an additional stop in Puerto Rico.

The combination of iCaramba and two other groups makes the Latino College tour the most widely recognized and well-attended of its kind nationwide.

'I think the tours are so popular among students because they are fun and entertaining events. Many of the people behind the scenes who make it all happen are students, you know they are Latino and we can relate to them,' said Aldano.

The tour first hit the road back in 2001 and has now grown to reach 13 cities and more than 55 universities.

'We are also the only tour of its kind out there and that helps us a great deal,' he adds.

According to Aldano the tour is also filled with weekend main events that include iCaramba music series, games, fashion, comedy shows and movie screenings.

'We have been receiving great feedback from those who have participated in our tour. The students enjoy a great deal of the programming that is offered, like the collegiate step and stroll shows. We have great partnerships that help bring this tour to life,' said Aldano.

With the help of many young Latinos and student organizations, the tour taps into the next generation and recognizes the young leaders in the world.

Among stops are University of Illinois at Chicago, Southern Illinois University and Illinois State University.
