Dining news: Lobster Month, Safehouse special, Bastille Day events

—Shaw's Crab House, 21 E. Hubbard St., is marking National Lobster Month with special menu items. Menu offerings include lobster maki, tacos, roll, fettucine and a 1.5-pound lobster boil with potatoes, corn and sausage. See ShawsCrabHouse.com .

—In honor of July being the seventh month, SafeHouse Chicago is celebrating with a special 007-themed cocktail, the Solitaire Sangria. Named after the famed Bond Girl played by Jane Seymour, the cocktail will be available for $7, with $2 of every purchase being donated to United Way of Greater Chicago.

—Beginning Friday, July 14, Floriole Cafe & Bakery, 1220 W. Webster Ave., will host a weekend of family-friendly festivities and tastings in celebration of the French national holiday, Bastille Day. Each day from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., guests may enjoy happy hour specials ( including $5 beers and $6 select French wines served with house marinated olives ) and complimentary French-inspired tastings alongside co-owner/executive chef Sandra Holl. Floriole will additionally offer a special Bastille Day French cheese plate ( $6 ) throughout the weekend, served with baguette, pecans and dried fruit.

—French eatery Bistronomic, 840 N. Wabash Ave., will offer a $39 three-course, prix fixe menu for Bastille Day on Friday, July 14 ( through Sunday, July 16 ). Dish options include the duo of homemade country pate & chicken liver mousse with apple salad, cornichons, mustard, and roasted hazelnut; steak & prime beef tartare with pomme frites, chayote squash remoulade, garlic confit, and country grain mustard; and the baked Alaska dessert with artisanal vanilla ice cream, mixed summer berries and toasted meringue. —On Friday, July 14, Chef Dominique Tougne celebrates his county's Independence Day with a special three-course prix fixe menu and classic Pastis Champagne cocktails at Chez Moi, 2100 N. Halsted St. ( Some of the dishes being offered include gazpacho, coq au vin, bouillabaisse and Bastille parfait. ) Also, Veuve Clicquot will be hosting raffles throughout the day, giving away gift bags and a magnum-sized bottle of champagne. —Chai cafe/eatery Ciya Chai, 2770 N. Milwaukee Ave., has more happening than its hand-selected loose leaf Nepalese tea comprising 150 possible chai recipe combinations. Co-owner Rajee Aryal has crafted a cocktail menu using rare and authentic spices sourced directly from Nepal; exotic ingredients and herbs include Chinese Szechuan peppercorns, black cardamom and rosewater. —Bill Murray and his siblings have signed a deal to open a Caddyshack-themed restaurant in Rosemont in December, WGNTV.com reported, citing the Chicago Tribune. Murray Bros. Caddyshack Restaurant, which first announced a plan for a Chicagoland restaurant last year, is set to open at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O'Hare Hotel & Convention Center in Rosemont. The golf-themed menu will feature crispy potato golf balls, a double bogey cheeseburger, and "Caddyshakes."

—The Walk-In ( accessible through a walk-in cooler door at Red Star Liquor, 2727 N. Milwaukee Ave. ) has launched a new seasonal cocktail menu ( with items such as the Colorado Bulldog, a $12 concoction with vodka, coffee, coconut, cream and cola ), new daily happy-hour specials and a new "friendly as f*ck" attitude—so much so that its new web domain is FriendlyAsFuck.com . With indoor seating for 50 in a combination of booths, drink rails and bar space and outdoor patio seating for an additional 20, The Walk-In welcomes dog-friendly dogs both inside the bar and outside on the patio.

—This summer, Beatrix Market will open its first stand-alone location in the Loop at 155 N. Wacker Dr., and will be the third of its kind in Chicago. The grab-and-go market experience originated in Streeterville in 2015 as a part of Beatrix, the neighborhood coffeehouse and restaurant, and most recently opened this summer in Fulton Market. —Presented by Budweiser and hosted by RedEye, Bud & Burgers will take place July 18-21 at 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The lineup will include burgers from chefs Danny Grant ( Maple & Ash ), Todd Stein ( The Bristol ), Mike Sheerin ( Rockit Bar & Grill ) and Rob Levitt ( The Butcher & Larder ). —A local gelato maker who earned acclaim at last year's Chicago Gourmet plans to open an Italian restaurant near Eataly, Eater Chicago noted. Michael and Mary Meranda hope Sapori Antichi Bar Italiano will open in October inside at 22 W. Ohio St. The Merandas run Gelato D'Oro in suburban Addison, and their gelato won the Gelato World Tour's Illinois Challenge last year at Chicago Gourmet.

—Speaking of bon appetit presents Chicago Gourmet, tickets are available for the 10th annual event, being held Sept. 19-24. Some of the events include the Hamburger Hop ( Sept. 22 at the Harris Theater rooftop ), the Grand Tasting ( Sept. 23-24 in Millennium Park ) and the Rise & Shine Gourmet ( Sept. 24 at the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel ). —Chuy's, a Tex-Mex restaurant in the South, will open its first Chicagoland location in Warrenville on Tuesday, July 25. Chuy's opened on April 16, 1982, in an old, abandoned Texas barbecue joint in Austin, Texas. A few of the items include quesadillas, burritos, tacos, enchiladas and fajitas. See Chuys.com .

—ZED451, 739 N. Clark St., will host a "Meet Our Sommeliers" event on Thursday, July 27, 6-8 p.m. The event will feature a variety of wine samplings paired with artisan cheeses and charcuterie stations. Tickets are $35 per person ( excluding tax ) and are available at ZED451.eventbrite.com .

—For International Chicken Wing Day ( July 29 ), Jake Melnick's Corner Tap, 41 E. Superior St., is offering spicy pina colada wings. Jake's jumbo wings ( served with ranch dressing ) are fried until crispy, tossed in their house-made spicy pina colada sauce and garnished with toasted coconut.

—On Wed., Aug. 2, at 6:30 p.m., Chef Donny Farrell of Oyster Bah and Chef Cole Schweitzer of Bouefhaus will engage in a culinary battle at Oyster Bah, 1920 N. Halsted St. Not only will the winner take home the crown, but he will also receive a $1,000 gift certificate to present to the charity of his choice ( the Mental Health Association of Greater Chicago for Farrell and the Alzheimer's Association for Schweitzer ). The four-course dinner costs $59.95 per guest ( not including tax and gratuity ) and reservations are required. See OysterBah.com .

—On Sunday, Aug. 20, at 5:30 p.m., Oyster Bah, 1920 N. Halsted St., will host an oyster roast, leading to a champagne and Chesapeake fried-chicken dinner as well as peach slab for dessert. The evening costs $39.95 per person ( exclusive of tax and gratuity ). Call 773-248-3000.
