Dining news: 'Flashback Brunch'; Meez Meals launches

—Delish Diner, 2018 W. Division St., now has the "Flashback Brunch" at 11 a.m.-3 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday. The brunch features DJ Pac-Man spinning hits from the '70s and '80s along with Motown classics and Soul Train accompanied by music videos. Brunch items will include the Hobo Skillet ( potatoes, onions, green pepper and ham topped with melted cheese and two eggs any style, $8.50 ), Bananas Fosters French Toast ( French toast topped with bananas in a sauce of buttery brown sugar, $7.50 ) and Monte Cristo Sandwich ( ham, turkey and Swiss on French toast with choice of side, $9 ). —Meez Meals, a Chicago company that delivers recipes along with healthy ingredients prepped and ready to cook at home, announced Meals for Good, a yearlong partnership with Common Threads. ( The program launches with a dish from Chicago chef and Common Threads co-founder Art Smith, whose receipe is available to order through Friday, Dec. 13. ) This partnership is the first of a yearlong series featuring a different top Chicago chef each month. —Renowned Chicago pastry chef Mindy Segal has signed a lease for a 6,000-square-foot bakery space in Logan Square. Segal opened her neighborhood eatery, Hot Chocolate, in Bucktown in 2005. She honed her craft in such restaurants as Spago, Charlie Trotter's, mk, Ambria and Gordon.

—Heartland Cafe, 7000 N. Glenwood Ave., has launched a new menu. According to a press release, "This chapter of Heartland Cafe's history will continue to focus on sustainability, but in a new and contemporary way." The eatery, among other things, has increased vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options. See www.heartlandcafe.com .

—Slurping Turtle, 116 W. Hubbard St., will hold a Godzilla Movie Night extravaganza on New Year's Eve. There will be three tasting menus, action movies and Japanese drums. Tickets are $45-$40 each; see http://slurpingturtle.com/home.php.

—The Drawing Room, 937 N. Rush St., has appointed Tommy Sheean as executive chef. ( Sheean used to be sous chef at the venue. ) One of the first big events on Sheean's docket is a five-course New Year's Eve dinner. For $85 per person, with an optional $35 add-on for a cocktail or wine pairing, guests can expect beef tartare, duck confit, beluga lentils and bread pudding, among other choices. Call 312-266-2694.

—Inspiration Corporation invites Chicagoans to support the fight against homelessness and poverty at its Chef Night Dinner at Inspiration Kitchens, 3504 W. Lake St., featuring mk Chef Michael Kornick. The four-course menu ( plus appetizer )—on Monday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m.—features crostini; wild mushroom pot pie; salad with warm goat cheese, caramelized shallots & Marcona almonds; smoked and roasted loin of Berkshire pork; and pecan caramel tartlets. —Skokie's Roka Akor Old Orchard, 4999 Old Orchard Shopping Center, is introducing brunch beginning on Black Friday, Nov. 29. Among the many items are pork belly and shishito hash with finger potatoes; blue crab "cake" Benedict; grilled cauliflower soup, pine nuts and shiso oil; and smoked firm tofu and sansai vegetable scramble.

—American Junkie, 15 W. Illinois St., has unveiled its reimagined space, ATTIC. Known for its expansive retractable roof and 140,000-watt mega sound system, the upper-level industrial-chic space now features a private VIP room for up to 40 guests, a new booth layout and design, and the addition of custom made lighting fixtures.

—The Boundary Tavern and Grille, 1932 W. Division St., and Old Town Pour House, 1419 N. Wells St. ( both under Bottleneck Management ), are holding New Year's Eve parties at 8 p.m.-1 a.m. Tickets are $85 to Boundary and $40 at Old Town. For more info, see www.bottleneckmgmt.com .
