The Kendall College Charitable Trust will hold its annual gourmet dinner fundraising event Tuesday, Oct. 4, at Kendall College, 900 N. North Branch St., at 6:30 p.m. The event includes a four-course dinner prepared by distinguished School of Culinary Arts alumni, including executive chef Shawn McClain of Sage at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas and owner of Chicago eateries Green Zebra and Custom House; and executive chef Ryan Pitts of RL Restaurant. Several area restaurants are supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October) with various specials. Among them are Carnivale (702 W. The French restaurant Bistronomic, 840 N. Wabash Ave., is promoting its four-course Thanksgiving dinner ($55 for adults; $20 for children; and $10 for children 5 and under). On Thursday, Nov. 24, 2-9 p.m., diners will enjoy a customizable menu featuring four different choices for each course, and there are vegetarian options. The Lycée Français de Chicago invites Chicago to experience the tastes, sights, and sounds of a traditional French marketplace at its annual Fall French Market Oct. 14—16. The Lycée expects more than 2,500 visitors to enjoy the wares of vendors from across Chicago and beyond. The preview takes place Oct. 14, with tickets $30 in advance ($40 at the door). The Field Museum, 1400 S. Lake Shore Dr., is bringing back its "Chocolate Around the World" exhibit, Oct. 5-Jan. 8, 2012.
