LGBTQ Illinoisans will have an opportunity to hear directly from the Democratic candidates for governor about the issues that impact their lives at a candidate forum in Chicago on Wed., Dec. 6, a coalition of organizations that serve and advocate for LGBTQ Illinoisans announced.
The Illinois LGBTQ Forum: The Democratic Candidates for Governorwith Affinity Community Services, the Association of Latinos/as Motivating Action ( ALMA ), the Equality Illinois Institute and Pride Action Tank as organizerswill take place 6-8 p.m. at the Second Presbyterian Church, 1936 S. Michigan Ave.
The Democratic candidates who have confirmed their participation so ar are state Sen. Daniel Biss, Chris Kennedy, state Rep. Scott Drury, anti-violence activist Tio Hardiman, Chicago Ald. Ameya Pawar and businessman J.B. Pritzker.
This event is a general education event. It will be an opportunity for the LGBTQ community to learn about the candidates, and for the candidates to better understand issues impacting the LGBTQ community.
The organizations plan to host a general election forum between the major party nominees for governor sometime after the March 20, 2018 primary election.
