Sykes Becomes a Man

Remember All of Me? The surprise 1984 hit starred Lily Tomlin as a dying rich woman who arranges to have her soul transferred into another person's body. That body turns out to belong to the very-much-alive Steve Martin, and lots of gender-bending slapstick ensues. Now, given Hollywood's obsession with remaking box-office hits, it was only a matter of time before the soul-switching comedy got its own resurrection. For version 2.0, New Line is behind the controls, and Monster-in-Law star Wanda Sykes is in negotiations to take on the role created by Tomlin. No word yet on possible male stars, but Romeo thinks big, butch Ving Rhames ( Kojak ) , who already explored his feminine side once for the TV movie Holiday Heart, would fit nicely into Wanda's pumps.

Paul Giamatti Attaches Amazing Screw-On Head

Secret agents don't get much weirder than this. Not since Inspector Gadget and the animated strangeness of early 1970s fare like Inch High, Private Eye has there been a detective like The Amazing Screw-On Head. Sideways star Paul Giamatti has signed on to voice the Civil War-era snoop—yes, Abe Lincoln is a character here, too—whose power is the ability to screw his head onto a variety of different bodies. Also joining the voice cast will be David Hyde Pierce, Molly Shannon, and Patton Oswalt. The Sci-Fi Channel commissioned the pilot based on Mike Mignola's ( Hellboy ) comic book of the same name, and the project is executive produced by queer writer/producer Bryan Fuller ( Wonderfalls, Dead Like Me ) and Jason Netter. Coming in 2006.

Lane's Dedication to McNally

Nathan Lane's next big Broadway splash may be with Matthew Broderick in The Odd Couple, but before that future box-office hit starts its engine, he's got another old friendship to revive. This August, the Tony-winning actor takes the off-Broadway stage in a production of Terrence McNally's Dedication, or The Stuff of Dreams. The play, about a couple that runs a children's theater in upstate New York, will be a theatrical reunion for McNally and his former muse, Lane. McNally wrote, and Lane starred, in The Lisbon Traviata, Lips Together, Teeth Apart, and Love! Valour! Compassion! before reports of a personal falling-out surfaced. Also joining the Dedication cast are New York theater vets Marian Seldes, Michael Countryman, and Patrica Kalember. But get your tickets now—Matthew Broderick won't wait forever.

Stupid Fashion Tricks

Maybe in the 1970s you wore one of those Saturday Night Fever disco suits. In the 1980s, perhaps it was a rhinestone-spackled number from Nolan Miller's Dynasty collection. In the 1990s, you thought you looked awesome tottering around in platform boots like the ones Baby Spice wore. Well, you looked ridiculous in all of them, and cable channel WE is here to tell you about it with I Can't Believe I Wore That. Hosted by as-yet-unnamed celebrity style icons from the 1970s through today, the four-episode series will take a funny backward glance at the most regrettable fashion horrors that passed for personal style not so long ago. The show will premiere in December, just in time for viewers to make strict fashion resolutions for next year.
