The Chicago Bulls (3-3) fell to the San Antonio Spurs (4-2) 129-124 in Texas on Oct. 28but there was one bright spot.
Forward DeMar DeRozan (who finished with 33 points) scored his 20,000th career point across 14 seasons during the game. He became only the 50th NBA player to reach that mark, joining Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'Neal, Larry Bird, Charles Barkley, Stephen Curry and LeBron James, among others, The Chicago Tribune noted. DeRozan currently has 20,026 points.
DeRozan's achievement was met with an immediate timeout from Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, who joined the AT&T Center crowd in congratulating their former star.
The Spurs' Keldon Johnson matched DeRozan with 33 points, and Jakob Poeltl added 21 points and 13 rebounds. Coby White scored 19 and Andre Drummond had 17 points and 14 rebounds for the Bulls.
Next, the Bulls will next host Philadelphia on Saturday, Oct. 29.
