NAME "I love vintage looksespecially from the '60s and '70sso I needed a corresponding name."
FIRST DRAG PERFORMANCE "I looked a mess, but I first tried getting in drag in May 2017. In July 2017, my first performance was a tribute to quaaludes at Berlin Nightclub's party Goddess."
DRAG INSPIRATION "Swinging '60s mod and psychedelic looks, '70s disco and sparkly showgirls. I grew up helping my grandmother in her antique shop and was always drawn to certain eras, and that hasn't changed."
GO-TO NUMBER TO SLAY A CROWD "I like to do both dance numbers and silly numbers, so I pick [a track] based on the crowd. For a dance number, my 'This Is a Man's World'/'Respect'/'Girls' mix; for utter stupidity'All Star' by Smash Mouth, mixed by my friend Dyna with a D."
FUTURE PROJECTS "My goal is always to uplift other performers when I can. My weekly show, Let's Make a Diva, is a competition where new drag performers can win a well-paid professional booking. We have a lot of under-21 queens come and make their drag debut. Diversitea is a new show for trans and AFAB ( assigned female at birth ) performers who often don't get the same bookings and opportunities, such as RuPaul's Drag Race. Hype! Her? Hour! is a celebration of femmes in drag in a community where masculinity is often a desired attribute. I love performing and creating looks, but the community is really what keeps me going, so I'm always looking for ways to make space for myself and others."
FUN FACT "Before working as a drag performer, I wrote a book about veganism and toured internationally doing readings and signings."
WHERE CAN WE CATCH YOU "Every Thursday, first Sundays and second Fridays at Hamburger Mary's in Andersonville; first Saturdays at Diversitea at Meeting House Tavern; first Wednesdays at Spit n Glitter queer punk party at Slippery Slope; and fourth Fridays at Hype! Her? Hour! at Mary's Attic."
