CHICAGO ( September 26, 2019 ) — On October 24, 2019, DIFFA/Chicago will host its third annual live art auction, Art for Life Chicago. The dynamic event will exhibit more than 80 fine works of art, with auctions benefitting those living with and vulnerable to HIV/AIDS.
Art for Life Chicago, to be held at Venue West, encourages attendees to celebrate art and the emerging and notable artists who are making a mark in today's cultural landscape. Photography, paintings, mixed media works and other pieces donated by locally and nationally recognized artists will be available for viewing and on sale via silent and live auctions throughout the evening.
The event provides the opportunity to invest in artists by offering a percentage of the proceeds to them and to support DIFFA/Chicago's mission to champion the fight to end HIV/AIDS through awareness, prevention and the pursuit of a cure by raising vital funds.
Art for Life Chicago 2019 is co-chaired by Lisa Adams, Robert App and Aschley Hopkins Yanda. A few of this year's many notable artists include Nikko Washington, Derrek Woods Morrow, Gail Mancuso, Alex Puryear, CJ Hungerman and Angela Schlub.
"We're proud to present the third annual Art for Life Chicago to recognize these talented artists and raise much-needed funds to support grants to HIV/AIDS education and service organizations," said Todd Baisch, DIFFA/Chicago Chairman of the Board.
The distinguished Art for Life Chicago 2019 jurors are Richard Bentham, Smithsonian Institution; Jef Bourgeau, Museum of New Art Detroit; Sergio Gomez, 33 Contemporary Gallery; Jessica Hopkins, Museum of New Art Detroit; Matthew Lew, Matthew Lew Fine Art; and Cameron McEwen, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago.
Extending opportunities to express their own contemplations and inspirations, attendees are invited to create personal keepsakes through the event's popular "Off the Wall" element. The event will be punctuated by delightful bites and libations courtesy of J&L Catering, Tito's Handmade Vodka and Anheuser Busch, with DJ Greg #Feelgood setting the soundtrack of the evening.
The event's 2019 sponsors include Title Sponsor Herman Miller; Presenting Sponsor Steelcase, Media Sponsor Luxe Interiors + Design; Diamond Sponsors Thomas Interiors and Leopardo; Platinum Sponsors ASID Illinois, Interior Investments, Shaw Contract Group and Skender; and Communications Sponsor Jo Chicago Communications.
Art for Life Chicago takes place on Thursday, October 24 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Venue West, 221 N. Paulina Street, with a VIP reception from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. To purchase tickets, visit diffachicago.org .
