Backing the notion that skin is in, the DC Cowboys—an 18-member, all-male organization for gay men that is based Washington, D.C.—is releasing its all-new 2007 calendar, which features lots of nudity. There is also a Making of the Calendar DVD that reveals what transpired behind the scenes during the three-day photo shoot.
According to a press release, even the calendar-making process was controversial. Supposedly, the amount of nudity was enough to make the owners of the photo-shoot location decline credit—and enough to make the organizers of a gay sporting event ask for strategic adjustments so that the troupe could be included in the event's program.
The DC Cowboys selected Whitman Walker Clinic's HIV Counseling and Testing programs as the beneficiary of 2007 calendar fundraiser. The troupe will donate 50 percent of the proceeds, which is expected to exceed $10,000.
To obtain a calendar, see www.dccowboys.org . The price is $20 and includes the DVD.
The group performs—clothed—at the Closing Ceremony of Gay Games VII July 22.
