Preservation Chicago released its 2020 Chicago 7 Most Endangered buildings list, covering some of the most vulnerable sites.
—The James R. Thompson Center/State of Illinois, 100 W. Randolph St., designed by Helmut Jahn, will be listed for sale by the State of Illinois this year.
—Jackson Park, South Shore Cultural Center and Midway Plaisance made Preservation Chicago's Chicago 7 Most Endangered List for the fourth time. According to the organization, the Obama Presidential Center and a PGA golf course plan could damage the park.
—Union Station Power House, 301 W. Taylor St., is an Art Moderne/Art Deco site on the Chicago River, and was designed by Graham, Anderson, Probst & White. Amtrak, which owns the building, has plans to demolish it for a maintenance shed planned for the site.
—Chicago Town & Tennis Club/Unity Church, 1925 W. Thome Ave., is a 1924 clubhouse designed by renowned Chicago architect George Washington Maher and his firm, George W. Maher and Son. Misericordia purchased the property, and it has plans to demolish it for new housing.
—Washington Park National Bank made the list for the second time, with developer DL3 Realty currently working toward a demolition/new construction plan for the site.
—The Central Manufacturing District, in its entirety, is facing developer pressure to destroy what remains of its integrity.
—Roseland Michigan Avenue Commercial District historically provided shopping, food and entertainment to surrounding Far South Side communities, including Pullman.
