NEW YORK, NY Smithsonian magazine designates Saturday, Sept. 28 the ninth annual Museum Day Live! For one day, participating museums across the U.S., with a wide range of diverse exhibitions, will emulate the spirit of the Smithsonian Institution's Washington D.C.-based facilities, who offer free admission everyday, and open their doors for free to those who download a Museum Day Live! ticket.
Beginning in August, the public can visit smithsonian.com/museumdaylive to download a Museum Day Live! ticket that grants the ticketholder plus one guest free access to any participating museum on Sept. 28. One ticket is permitted per household, per email address. A list of participating museums can be found at Smithsonian.com/museumday/venues.
"Museum Day Live! represents Smithsonian's commitment to make learning and the spread of knowledge accessible to everyone," says Stephen Giannetti, VP Advertising Sales and Marketing at Smithsonian Media. "Last year's event drew over 400,000 participants, and we expect exponential growth this year."
To date, more than 800 museums in all 50 states have signed up to participate in Smithsonian magazine's 2013 Museum Day Live!, the largest event of its kind. The Taiwan Tourism Bureau is the leading advertising sponsor for the 2013 event.
