The Youth Pride Center ( YPC ) will hold its 2nd Annual 'Out and Proud' youth benefit on Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. at 637 S. Dearborn.
Dr. G. Simone Koehlinger, director of the Chicago Department of Public Health Office of LGBT Health, will be honored as the 2006 Youth Advocate of the Year at the event. Also, Frank Walker, YPC's founder, will be celebrating five years with the organization.
In addition, spoken-word artist Nikki Patin—like Walker, a Windy City Times 30 Under 30 honoree—will perform, and there will be a silent auction featuring original African artwork.
At the event, YPC's downtown center—which can be rented—will be on display. The center includes a 200-seat 'theatre in the round' auditorim, a dining room that seats 100, classrooms and a 2,000-square-foot main space.
