The Chicago White Sox will celebrate its Pride Night on Wed., June 21, when the team will take on the Texas Rangers.
Among the planned events are the following:
The White Sox will offer an exclusive Summer T-Shirt Series giveaway, with shirts created by local LGBTQ+ artist Sandra Antongiorgi for the first 10,000 fans, ages 21+, who enter the ballpark.
Queer Latinx photographer/writer Gonzalo Guzman will tell the game through his images. Focused on fostering empathy and maintaining the authenticity of his subjects, he hopes to share stories that broaden the perspectives of his viewers.
The White Sox will welcome teens from Englewood's Howard Brown Health facility to enjoy the game from a ballpark suite. The organization also is welcoming a group from Center on Halsted.
The White Sox will offer fans a one-of-a-kind Pride photo opportunity in the Vizzy View Bar, featuring a 360-degree camera backdrop and a balloon art display from LGBTQ+-owned vendor Balloons by Tommy.
Fans are invited to stop by Gate 5 (northeast corner of 35th and Shields) to learn more about White Sox partners offering programming that celebrates the LGBTQ+ community. There will be tent setups and on-site representatives from organizations supporting LGBTQ+ activism.
Drag figure Denime Infiniti Sanchez will perform the national anthem while White Sox DJ (and member of the LGBTQ+ community) DJ Zel will perform a pre-game set.
There will be a "Hero of the Game" recognition for U.S. Navy National Defense Service Medal recipient Monica Urbieta, personnel specialist 3rd Class. Urbieta is the only woman working an 18-hour flight schedule as designated Plane Captain for 11 jets on Squadron VFA-136.
