Chicago Red Stars release roster ahead of 2023 NWSL season

CHICAGO (March 20, 2023) — The Chicago Red Stars released their roster ahead of the 2023 National Women's Soccer League's (NWSL) season. The Red Stars kick off the 2023 season Saturday, March 25, against San Diego Wave FC in a rematch of the 2022 NWSL quarterfinals.

The Red Stars enter the 2023 season with 22 rostered players, including the three draft picks the club signed earlier today. The Red Stars also signed midfielder Taylor Malham to a one-year contract today, and extended contract offers to midfielder Sami Feller and forwards Brenna Lovera and Cheyna Matthews.

Oklahoma native, Taylor Malham, spent last season with Racing Louisville FC. While at Racing Taylor made four appearances and logged one shot at goal. Prior to joining Racing Louisville FC, Malham played for the University of Arkansas where the midfielder made 107 starts and recorded 33 goals and 30 assists.

Midfielder Addie McCain and defender Kayla Sharples are both rostered players, but currently unavailable due to injury. Forward Chelsie Dawber was loaned to IFK Norrk˦ping of the Swedish Damallsvenskan league earlier this month.

The Red Stars play their first home match against the Houston Dash, April 1. Tickets are still available at www.chicagoredstars.com/tickets.

Defenders (6): Tierna Davidson, Amanda Kowalski, Casey Krueger, Tatumn Milazzo, Kayla Sharples (SEI), Bianca St-Georges, Arin Wright

Midfielders (6): Jill Aguilera, Julia Bianchi (INT), Samantha Fisher, Sophie Jones (DRAFT), Taylor Malham, Addie McCain, Cari Roccaro

Forwards (8): Jenna Bike, Ava Cook, Chelsie Dawber (LOAN), Sarah Griffith, Penelope Hocking (DRAFT), Yuki Nagasato (INT), Ally Schlegel (DRAFT), Ella Stevens, Mallory Swanson

DRAFT — Players selected in 2023 NWSL Draft but not signed to a contract

INT — International Slot

LOAN — Player on currently on loan

NRI — Non-roster invitee

SEI — Season ending injury
