Chicago Sun-Times columnist and CBS-2 entertainment reporter Bill Zwecker; Howard Brown Health Center CEO Michael Cook; and new CTA head Ron Huberman were just a few of the hundreds of people who attended Chicago House's 19th Annual Spring Brunch & Fashion Show, which took place April 29 at the Harold Washington Library Winter Garden, 400 S. State.

Among the highlights were a silent auction that even included a Dynasty package ( complete with shoulder pads autographed by Linda Evans and Joan Collins, who only signed her character's name, Alexis Carrington ) ; an American Airlines raffle drawing; a Jayson Home & Garden flower market; and a Seven Deadly Sins Fashion Show that encompassed everything from the whimsical to the sultry. In addition, awards were given to Ellen Sahli ( The Spirit Award ) , Kevin Baldwin ( Program Volunteer of the Year ) and Dawn Grana ( Development Volunteer of the Year ) , and there was a moving speech by Patrick Hughes, Jr., brother of the late Chicago House resident Brian Hughes, to whom the program was dedicated.

Rev. Stan Sloan, CEO of Chicago House, commented to Windy City Times about the success of this year's event: 'We sold out almost three weeks in advance; it's the earliest we've ever sold out. People say that we should move—but [ the garden ] is so beautiful.' Photos by Andrew Davis and Charlsie Dewey
